QSaltLake, a media company for Utah’s LGBT community, petitions for the retraction of Facebook’s support to Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes, the politician who has made headlines for challenging the court’s nod to gay marriage.

Facebook, Inc. donated $10,000 for the campaign of Reyes, making the company the second highest contributor to the attorney general.

Bob Henline, QSaltlake Assistant Editor, initiated a petition encouraging Facebook to “publicly decry this bigotry and make an equal or greater contribution to the campaign of Charles Stormont who is also seeking the office of Utah Attorney General,” as cited in The Huffington Post.

A Facebook representative explained the move of the social network, mentioning, “We made this donation for the same reason we’ve donated to Attorneys General on the opposite side of this issue — because they are committed to fostering innovation and an open Internet.”

The petition has gained over 500 signatures, as of today.
